Sharjah, 24thFeb, 2016: Sharjah Airport Authority and Sharjah Aviation Services are participating in Air Cargo India 2016 which started on 23rd Feb and concludes today 25thFebruary in Mumbai, India.Air Cargo India, a biennial exhibition since 2006, is one of the biggest exhibitions in the world specializing in air cargo transportations and logistics attended by major players of the air cargo industry. The event comes particularly due to the significant international appeal it gained during previous exhibitions, and the world wide participation of international airports, air transport industry representatives and airfreight community.HE Sheikh Faisal Bin Saud Al Qasimi, Director of Sharjah Airport Authority,who heads the delegation said:” Air Cargo India is a great platform to meet and discuss on latest industry developments with the air cargo experts and decision makers, including international airports, freight forwarders as well as our partners from all over the world. Over the last years, Sharjah International Airport has built excellent relationships with Indian shippers and forwarders; this exhibition is an opportunity for us to strengthen our collaboration in the region.”Sharjah International Airport has five cargo terminals with a total floor area of 32,000 square meters seen as the region’s leading cargo hub served by dedicated cargo aircraft parking positions equipped to handle up to 16 aircraft of different types.The International Air Transport Association (IATA) Airline Industry Forecast 2014-2018 shows that international freight volumes are expected to increase at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.1% over the next five years. Emerging economies, particularly in the Middle East and Africa, will be the fastest-growing markets. “Air cargo remains as vital to the global economic system as ever. This year, more than $6.8 trillion worth of goods, equivalent to 35% of total world trade by value, will be transported around the world by air.
