Sharjah Airport has positioned itself firmly as one of the leading cargo hubs in the GCC region. Along with its strategic location between Far East and Europe, the airport serves over eight scheduled international cargo airlines and more than 20 charter freighters, flying to over 45 destinations covering six continents.
The airport is also connected to three seaports, Khor Fakkan Port, Hamirya Port, and Port Khalid. These ports are located across the emirate of Sharjah coasts Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman. In addition to the Sharjah Airport Free Zone (SAIF Zone) providing the shippers and consignees an ideal connectivity to various regional and global hubs as the freight center serves as a distribution point for goods.
Sharjah Airport provides complete logistic solutions for its airfreight partners to move cargo through its network. Cargo includes pharma products, live animals, dangerous goods, perishables and valuable shipments among others. This is further supported by state-of-the-art infrastructure, cargo systems, and service capabilities to handle all aircraft types up to AN225. The official ground handler (Sharjah Aviation Services) team is fully certified as per IATA regulations, to ensure safe and secure handling of cargo at all times.
Sharjah Airport has one of the longest runways in the region at 4060 meters, which is capable of accommodating aircraft taking off and landing at the airport with full-load capacity, even during the most adverse weather conditions. The airport houses a total of five cargo terminals with a floor area of 30,000 square meters. A dedicated apron adjacent to the cargo terminals can accommodate up to 13 wide body aircraft at the same time with capacity up to 4 Code E aircraft.
